For principals and business managers

Everything your school no longer has to manage

Running a canteen, or coordinating lunch orders without one, takes staff time, volunteers and cash handling. ForkByte takes all of it off your school.

Cash on site

Parents pay in the app with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card. There are no envelopes, coins or banking runs for the office.

Canteen staffing

No canteen manager to hire and no volunteer rosters to fill. Our kitchen team does the cooking.

Paper order bags

No handwritten lunch bags to sort or late orders to chase. Every order is in the system before the cut-off.

Allergy lists on paper

Each child's allergies are recorded once. The app blocks unsafe dishes before an order can be placed.

Food handling risk

Food is prepared in our partner's registered commercial kitchen, not on your premises.

Refunds and complaints

Parents manage changes, cancellations and refunds with us directly. None of it reaches your front office.

How it works

One school day with ForkByte

Simple for parents and invisible to teachers. Lunch arrives in the classroom with each child's name on the bag.

1
Any time before

Parents order

They choose the child, day and break, then a dish. They can order a whole week at once.

2
Morning cut-off

Orders lock

The kitchen gets an exact list by school, class and break, with every allergen flagged.

3
Morning

Cooked fresh

Meals are prepared in a registered commercial kitchen, then packed and labelled by class.

4
Before the bell

Delivered to class

Lunch bags arrive at your school sorted by class, ready to hand out.

Allergen safety

Allergen checks built into every order

Allergen management is part of how ForkByte is built. It is not left to a note on a paper bag.

  • Declared for every dishEvery menu item lists its allergens, using the major allergens recognised in Australia.
  • Blocked in the app and on our serversA dish that conflicts with a child's recorded allergy can't be ordered, even if someone tries to get around the app.
  • A record of every orderEach order keeps the allergens declared for that dish on that day.
  • Flagged in the kitchenPacking lists highlight every allergy order for a second check before it leaves.

Built for everyone involved

Simple for families. Nothing extra for staff.

2027 pilot · Melbourne

Now inviting a small group of pilot schools

We're starting with a few primary schools in Melbourne's eastern suburbs so every pilot school gets close attention while we perfect the service.

  1. A 15-minute call with you or your business manager
  2. A tasting session and menu walk-through for your team
  3. A parent information pack ready for your newsletter
  4. Daily lunches start. We handle everything from there.

Questions

Common questions from schools

Does the school need to do anything day to day?

No. We need a delivery point and a nominated contact. Parents order and pay us directly, and lunches arrive sorted and labelled by class.

Does the school handle any money?

No. Parents pay through the app. The school collects, holds and reconciles nothing.

How are allergies handled?

Parents record each child's allergies once. Every dish declares its allergens, and the system refuses any order that conflicts with a child's recorded allergy, both in the app and on our servers. Packing lists flag allergy orders for a second check in the kitchen.

What if we already have a canteen or a lunch provider?

ForkByte can cover the days your canteen is closed, or replace a provider that only comes one to three days a week. We're happy to work around your current setup.

Where is family data stored?

In Australia. We collect only what's needed to deliver lunches safely, and we handle it under the Australian Privacy Principles.

Can this extend beyond lunch?

Recess is included. Excursion lunches, staff meals and outside-school-hours care are on our roadmap.
